Rural Reflections Summit: Building a Stronger Washington

Friday, March 19:
Registration Opens: 3:00 p.m.
In-depth Workshops (optional early bird workshops): 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Program and Banquet: 6:00 p.m.

Saturday, March 20:
Program/Workshops: 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (detailed agenda will follow)

Rural Conference Overview:
1. Highlight successes and progress made by each H1, H2 and H3 community
2. Workshops will focus on:
· Networking and sharing lessons learned by Horizons and RuFES (Rural Family Economic Success) teams
· Financial Asset and Wealth Building
· Leadership and Strengthening Our Community’s Capacity
· Public Policy Education
· Tourism and more…
3. Finding your “rural voice.”

HORIZONS COMMUNITIES (H1, H2 AND H3):
The Horizons grant will pay for the following:
· Up to 6 people (youth and adult) from each community to attend. Additional people are welcome to attend at their own expense.
· Gas cards for up to 2 cars to travel to the conference. Please carpool with neighboring Horizons communities. Other vehicles traveling to the conference will be at their own expense.
· 2 hotel rooms per community for Friday evening only. Shared rooms only. (Please combine with neighboring Horizons communities, if possible). We are trying to stretch the dollars as far as possible. Additional hotel rooms are blocked and are available at own expense.

Reflect and Rave……..this is your time to brag!
Each Horizons community is asked to provide:
· Table top display highlighting Horizons successes (to be set up Friday afternoon prior to banquet).
· 150 business card sized papers (2” x 3 ½”) with community contact information. Who would someone contact if they had a question about a particular project that was done in your community??
· By February 19th - Three (3) photos with a brief explanation of the activity along with impact information. For each photo, please answer one of the following: how did it increase leadership capacity? how did it reduce poverty? or how did it aid in creating a thriving community? These will be used for a combined Horizons PowerPoint presentation. Photos and impacts may be emailed or mailed to: Ronda Gollehon gollehon@wsu.edu or JoEllen Wollman jwollman@wsu.edu WSU Extension Horizons, P.O. Box 399, Davenport, WA 99122. All photos will be returned.


WA RuFES COMMUNITIES:
The Horizons grant will pay for the following:
· Up to 2 people from each Horizons RuFES team to attend. Additional people are welcome to attend at own expense.
· Gas cards for 1 car (if carpooling) to travel to the conference. Other vehicles traveling to the conference will be at own expense.
· 1 hotel room for Friday evening only. (Please remember you can share with the Horizons team that will be attending from your community). Additional hotel rooms are blocked and are available at own expense.
If you are a WA Horizons/RuFES Community: you could send up to 8 people, have 3 hotel rooms and up to 3 vehicles traveling to the conference.

HOW DO I REGISTER?
Each community leadership team is asked to please work with your Horizons Community Coach to enroll for the conference.

Please invite others to attend – this conference is open to all.
